Quick review of Brushed and Brushless DC motors

  Brushless DC (BLDC) Motors are getting more popular than Brushed Motors. DALA S1 BLDC Motor Controller.   While ''Brushed'' DC motors use brushes and a comutor for controlling the movement of motor's rotator, the Brushess DC Motors don't utillize brushes. BLDC Motor movement is controlled by designed drive signals. The BLDC motors offer improved reliability, longer life, more compact size and lower weight. So BLDC motors become more popular in applications where efficient is critically concerned. Thus, BLDC motor is considered to be a high-performance motor capable of providing large amounts of torque over a wide speed range.   The DALA S1 BLDC motor controller supports hall-effect sensor for detecting the position of the motor's rotor with respect to the motor's stator. It provides true 2 minute Arms ratings, not short duration ‘boost’ ratings.   More features of S1: Support regenerate break, SOC algorithm, magnetic eddy current brake control, Emergency stop-and-reverse motor control, Anti-sliding slope. Indirect Field Orientation (IFO) Vector Control algorithm generates the maximum possible torque and efficiency across the entire speed range. Advanced Space Vector Pulse Width Modulation (SVPWM) techniques produce low motor harmonics, low torque ripple and minimized heating losses, resulting in high efficiency. Reverse polarity protection on battery connections. Short circuit protection on all output drivers. In low speed applications, DALA S1 BLDC motor controllers are more effective and reliable.

DALA Dynamometer

    DL53 is an AC Dynamometer built by DALA Lab for motor and controller testing. Major function modules of DL53 Dynamometer includes: AC load, data acquisition and analyses unit, power supply unit, air-cooler and water-cooling system, CPU. Rated power 53KW, torque 253N.m, highest RPM 9000r/min.     Advanced Control and Load Capability The load motor DL53 uses is Siemens water-cooled AC induction motor 1PH8 series, with rated specifications: 53 KW, 253 N.m, 9000 RPM. Integrated with Siemens G120 series variable frequency drive, DL53 allows precision load and torque control.     High Accurate Current Transducer DL53 uses LEM (Switzerland) ITN 900-S Ultrastab high accurate current transducer for non-contact phase current and DC bus current testing, Measures to 900 ADC, accuracy: ±0.00115%F.S.   Digital Power Analyzer DL53 dynamometer uses Yokogawa’s WT333 digital power analyzer, accuracy ±0.1%F.S, to analyze current, voltage and power signals.   Why DL53?   The performance of a motor controller drive capacity is presented through the reaction relationship of motor RPM, torque and efficiency.   1.Toque-speed Characteristic   Efficiency Map     Analyze based on those data captured and charts drawn by DL53 precision dynomameter, DALA is capable to quickly optimize algorithm like Field-Oriented Control (FOC), Field Weakening Control, and program motor parameters.   2. Temperature Rise Test Under same operating condition, the temperature rise test may be one of the major tests tell us how is the controller’s performance. Thermal damage is most frequently occurred to motor controllers, therefore run temperature rise test is essential when develop controllers. Using DL53 can run and test controllers with different torque-speed loadings, to monitor and verify whether the characteristic of controller meet our designed standards.   3. Reliability Test The reliability test of DALA controllers is designed to meet specified applications, by selecting a proper torque loading cycle and continuous load to test in sequence, acquits the whole process data and analyze for the reliability of controllers, including MTTFF and MTBF.   The DL53 dynamometer allows DALA R&D to know how is the performance of controllers we develop, accelerate the new product developing, improves algorithm and helps us to provide reliable motor controllers to all of our customers.

    DALA motor controllers are designed for electric vehicles including on-road and industrial applications. 23rd October 2019, we participated CeMAT Asia, which holds in Shanghai SNIEC, is the leading show for intralogistics in China and thus the leading international trade fair for material handling, automation, transport, and logistics technologies in Asia. DALA Controller, Design-For-Reliability With 50 patents contributed by DALA professional R&D team, which are more than 20 highly specialized engineers and technicians. We are know-how of the core algorithm of AC & DC motor driver and speed control, and developed programmable technologies to provide fast and reliable engineering service.
